The optimal formula to save on postage
As an experienced specialist in the field of personalized fulfillment, we offer our customers professional support for their planned direct mailing campaigns, including their cost-optimized implementation, at all times.
The cheapest way to send a dialog mail is in a DL envelope that weighs max. 20 grams with contents.
An important point here is to find the optimal postage for the customer's promotion. This is a major part of the cost of the overall promotion. Postage depends on the content of the promotion (is it promotional or not), the quantity of the item (over 500, over 5,000), the weight of the item and the size of the envelope used.
The first hurdle is the promotional content of a mailing, here is DPAG's definition.
What is promotional? The sending of written communications that serve to retain and win customers/members and anything that and anything that serves to motivate customers or members to purchase or use products and services. Likewise free offers can be submitted or special information given, which a positive representation of e.g. enterprises, marks, products or also persons serve (also without purchase offers).
Once this hurdle has been cleared, the item can be sent postage-optimized as Dialogpost; if the content is not promotional, the only option is the fully paid letter. See DPAG price list www.deutschepost.de/de/b/brief_postkarte.html Secondly, we look at the quantity of items, (from) 500 items with the same content can be sent as Dialogpost easy (easy means Dialogpost postage plus surcharge of EUR 0.15), if we even have (from) 5,000 items, Dialogpost is possible without surcharge.
Now to the most important part of the formula, the weight. The cheapest way to send a Dialogpost is in a DL envelope that weighs max. 20 grams with contents. To achieve this, a maximum of 3 A4 sheets can be inserted, with a maximum grammage of 80 g/m². Thus, each sheet weighs 5 grams plus the DL envelope also 5 grams, so we stay with "Format Standard up to 20 grams" and get the cheapest postage of EUR 0.30 at DPAG.
Let's summarize: 3 x 80 g/m² in DL ≥ 5,000w = € 0.30
(3 x 80 g/m²) 3 sheets of A4 with a grammage of 80 g/m² each plus (in DL) DL envelope that itself weighs 5 grams (≥ 5,000) from 5,000 items and that still (w) promotional, then we end up with EUR 0.30 postage. This marks the absolute price-performance winner in DPAG's product range.
